I have always been in love with New England. It has a lot to do with the seasons and even more to do with the ocean and the incredible mysteries of its beautiful, ever changing landscape. I grew up in New England and I grew up on the ocean so I am sure that is a part of the hold that the area has over me. Moss covered rocks, bare trees against a white winter sky, great green lawns that roll down to the sea, massive shingled homes, ancient lichen covered stone walls, five o'clock on the beach when the crowds depart and the sun sits low in the sky and it is glories time at the ocean, and long wide wood porches, I love porches. All these images come to mind when I think of New England and all of them speak to me in everything that I create.
Whether it be my furniture line, my accessories, or my stationery. Whatever it is that I am creating, I am creating to a world that I have in my head, and in my heart, and that is endlessly comfortable to me. The allure of that "comfortable life" that I always aspire to and speak of constantly is powerful and shows up in the comfort of a big chair or the softness of a woven alpaca throw. It is the warm glow from a hand carved reading lamp and the romance of the written word as it flows across an elegantly embossed piece of stationery. Like that comfortable life, everything I create is beautiful, and comfortable, and reminiscent of a time when home and hearth were the cornerstone of a safe and solid world.
